Box Score 4 The Onondaga Community College Lazers finished up its spring break trip at The Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this past Thursday, and return home with a 1-4 record.

Game 1- Onondaga 0, Mercer County 6
The Lazers opened up its Spring trip with a contest against the returning NJCAA Division II runner up, Mercer County.Â
Newcomer Mitchell Hoalcraft got the offense started in the top of the first with a walk, followed by a sharp single to right field by sophomore
Joey Lowen. The Lazers couldn't cash in, as the Vikings scored 1 in the bottom half.
The offense also saw solid efforts from returner
Anthony Carrodeguas and transfer Wilson Jiminez who both had hits in the third inning. The Lazers saw their efforts stymied via a strikeout.Â
Rookie Conner VanDreason allowed 6 runs (5 earned) over a solid 5.0 innings.  VanDreason gave up 9 hits, walked none, and produced 15 outs over 76 efficient pitches.Â
Freshman Mike Bruce closed out the game with a scoreless 6
th inning, walking one and striking out one.Â
Game 2- Onondaga 2, Bergen 12
Game 2 started with promise, as transfer Alec Peterson was able to retire 3 of the first 4 batters of the game. The Bulldogs offense responded with timely hitting in the second inning and exploded for 9 runs. The Lazers were able to get one back from walks from Josh Loeffler,
David Heath, and
Anthony Carrodeguas.
The Bulldogs tacked on 3 more runs before Adam Lupo came in to retire 6 of the next 7 batters he faced, with three of them coming via strikeout.Â
Newcomers Billy Clifford and Maxx Kies notched their first hits as Lazers, with Clifford scoring the second run of the game.
Game 3- Onondaga 3, Delaware Technical CC 11
The Lazers faced off with Delaware Technical Community College at Coastal Carolina University to open Day 2 and fell to the Eagles 11-3. Sophomore
Kyle Canavally battled with the Eagles across three tough innings before the Lazers responded from a triple to right center scorched off the bat of Wilson Jiminez. Freshman Maxx Kies followed with an RBI groundout that cut the deficit to 2-1.Â
After four more runs from Delaware Tech, the Lazers would then battle back in the 6th from hits by sophomores
Anthony Carrodeguas and a triple from Billy Clifford to get the score to 6-3.Â
Sophomore
Shane Krawec would retire four of the five batters he faced for 1 1/3 scoreless innings heading into the 7
th. The Eagles would notch 5 runs in the top half of the 7
th and the Lazers would fall 11-3.
Game 4- Onondaga 5, Danville 7
Onondaga's offense acted early as Josh Loeffler would reach base on a hard hit ball to shortstop, followed by a stolen base. Loeffler would then score on a single from sophomore
Joey Lowen later that inning.
Danville would score single runs in the next few innings. The Lazers exploded in the top half of the fifth inning when catcher
Galen Hayes would be hit by a pitch to start the inning.Â
Loeffler would then reach again on another sharply hit ball, with
Anthony Carrodeguas and
Joey Lowen reaching base via HBP and a base on balls. Sophomore Billy Clifford would then clear them all with a deep triple to left center field.Â
Danville CC would retake the lead in the bottom half and hold off a rally by the Onondaga offense in the top of the seventh to claim the victory.
Game 5- Onondaga 10, Adirondack 3
Josh Loeffler would smash the first pitch of the game for a double to deep left field for one of his two hits on the day and would score on a passed ball by Adirondack's catcher.Â
Returners
Joey Lowen and
James Salamone would trade places on doubles to give the Lazers a 2-0 advantage after the first inning.
Onondaga catcher
David Heath caught Adirondack's leadoff man stealing before
Amir Nitowski would cruise through six innings, holding the timberwolves offense in check. Nitowski would finish with 5 strikeouts and 4 hits allowed. Lowen would pace the Lazers offense with four hits on the day and 2 runs scored. Zach Krawczyzk would notch his first hit as a Lazer, as Onondaga would roll to its first win of the season 10-3. Â
