Academic Support

Onondaga Community College has a number of resources available to help all students, including student athletes.

Tutoring
Tutoring is coordinated through The Learning Center and the Coordinator of Student Success and Support can assist in the process. The Learning Center has tutors available for a variety of classes, group or individual appointments, and skill building workshops. Appointments can be made online or in person.

The Learning Center is located in the Gordon Student Center, Suite G202 (right next to the cafeteria)

To schedule an appointment in The Learning Center click the link below and follow the steps.

  1. Log in with OCC email address
  2. Default password is occ123, you can update it later.
  3. Click the "limit to" drop down menu and select your class.
    1. It will update to tutoring times available just for that class.
  4. Anything that is in blue or grey indicates the time slot is full, the white boxes are available times.
  5. Click on the time you want and fill out the information required.
  6. Click save appointment, and the time slot on the calendar will turn yellow, meaning it's your time.
  7. Go to where it says "Welcome your name" and click update profile
  8. Scroll to the bottom and enter your phone number and wireless carrier, this will allow them to send you a text reminder the day before your appointment.

It is very important to attend tutoring sessions that you have signed up for; you can lose access to the tutoring office if you miss too many appointments. Also, make sure you to bring homework, test prep, or anything else to work on with a tutor.

Study Hall
The purpose of study hall is to provide a structured approach to studying and getting school work done. Student athletes who participate in study hall sessions are expected to come to study hall on time with all of the materials necessary for completing assignments and studying.
 
Student athletes required to participate in study hall include:
  • Student athletes on academic probation
  • Student athletes with a recommendation from coach

Student Athlete Computer Lab

The Athletic Department manages its own full service computer lab with later hours beyond the confining times of practices and games, and has printing capabilities for all student athletes.
