I. Membership
The Student-Athlete Leadership council is an advisory board made up of a student-athlete representative from each team at Onondaga. Students on this board are nominated by their coach each year.
Â
II. Purpose & Functions
By being a part of this council, student athletes will have the opportunity to continue growing their leadership skills as well as lead their teams and other student-athletes in a positive manner. Student athletes will have the opportunity to share their feedback on the student-athlete experience, and provide input on how together the Athletics Department can grow and improve. Below is a list of what the athletes will take part in:
- Provide input to the Director of Athletics regarding all aspects of the student-athlete experience
- Assist the Director of Athletics in the assessment and development of policies, procedures and support programs that impact student-athlete academic success and experiences
- Develop leadership skills
- Build a sense of community within the athletics program involving all athletic teams
- Organize and attend student-athlete community service efforts
- Promote a positive student-athlete image on campus
III. Meetings
The group will meet at least two times a semester during the academic year with other meetings scheduled as deemed appropriate based on topical and timely review of student-athlete and departmental related matters.
IV. Participant Expectations
- Attend all scheduled meetings. The effectiveness of the Council will be influenced significantly by broad based representation of all sports and more than one perspective within a sport. All meetings will be held during "college hour" to facilitate maximum student availability.
- Be an active participant. Student-athletes are encouraged to provide constructive feedback on matters that influence their experience as a student and as an athlete.
