Box Score 2 The Onondaga Lazers baseball team walked away with a split with Corning Community College on Tuesday, April 4.Â
Game One- Onondaga 21, Corning 2
The Lazers began scoring early and often against the Barons, working two walks and a single for sophomore
James Salamone, who promptly crushed a long grand slam to deep right field for an early 4-0 advantage. Wilson Jimenez provided the next innings' fireworks with a two-run inside-the-park home run to right center field for the second of his 3 hits on the day. Jimenez finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 3 runs batted in. Sophomore Billy Clifford would launch a two-run home run in the third inning to cap the Lazers' offense, with Mitchell Hoalcraft adding a solo home run in the fourth inning.Catcher
David Heath finished 4-for-4 with a double and 3 runs scored. Adding to Onondaga's offense with multi-hit games were Josh Loeffler,
Joey Lowen, and Mike Kasch.
Amir Nitowski would earn his team-leading third win of the season, pitching 3.0 innings with 2 strikeouts.
Game Two- Onondaga 3, Corning 13
The nightcap saw the Lazers jump out to an early lead as Wilson Jimenez would triple deep to right center field.Â
Joey Lowen would drive in Jimenez on a single to the left side before sophomore Billy Clifford would bury his second home run of the day into the hill beyond the left field fence for an early 3-0 lead. It was all Red Barons from there, as the Onondaga pitching couldn't hold up the lead. Zach Krawczyk would add a single in a 1-for-2 performance at the plate, and
Anthony Carrodeguas would add a double and a stolen base for the Lazers.
With the split the Lazers fall to 7-8 on the season.

The Lazers are slated to open a four-game set with Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Saturday, April 7, 2018 in Dryden, NY and then return home on Sunday, April 8
th. Games begin at 1pm each day.
