Box Score 2 The Onondaga Lazers baseball team split with visiting MSAC foe Jefferson Community College in two games that featured a lot of offense on a cold, wet day at the Onondaga baseball complex.
Game 1- Onondaga 2, Jefferson 12
The Lazers fell behind early, but were kept in the game from sophomore
Dylan McGee's relief efforts.Through the middle four innings, McGee stranded the Cannoneers offense by striking out 3 and allowing 2 unearned. The Lazers offense was able to scratch together single runs in the 5
th and 6
th innings but it was not enough. Sophomore
Joey Lowen finished 2-4 with a run scored and outfielders Josh Loeffler, Mike Kasch, and Maxx Kies all added singles for the Lazers.
Game 2- Onondaga 10, Jefferson 4
Onondaga's offense got untracked in the second inning when Sophomore's Mike Kasch and
Anthony Carrodeguas would reach base via singles and score Onondaga's first two runs on a double scorched off the bat of Josh Loeffler. Loeffler's double would tie the game at 2. Onondaga would send 12 batters to the plate in the bottom of the 4
th, registering 8 runs on 7 hits.
Joey Lowen would bring one in on his two hits in the inning. Kasch would plate a run on a double to right center, and
Ethan Wiedmer and Wilson Jimenez would bring home the other runs in the inning. The lazer offense, which saw every starter have at least one hit, was led by
Joey Lowen, who registered 2 singles and a triple. Sophomore Josh Loeffler would lead the way with 3 runs batted in.Freshman pitcher Adam Lupo would hold the Jefferson offense in check just long enough before steady rains would end the game in the bottom of the fifth for the complete game victory. Lupo struck out 3 for his first collegiate win.
Mohawk Valley Community College visits the Lazers at the baseball complex on Thursday, March 29 for a doubleheader starting at 2 PM.
