Onondaga Baseball defeated Erie Community College, 3-2, in the first game of the doubleheader on Thursday evening, but fell to the Kats in the nightcap, 4-3.

Game One: Onondaga , Erie (7 innings)

Matthew Valin gave up one run in the first inning off two hits and two walks, but he was able to escape the inning by striking out the final batter to leave the bases loaded.

The Lazers three-hit, three-run second inning was good enough for the win.
Terry Daniels was hit in the back with the first pitch of the inning, followed by three straight singles by
Joey Lowen,
Adrian Adams, and
Anthony Carrodeguas to score the tying and winning runs.

Onondaga was kept hitless for the remainder of the game, but the defense held strong.
Matthew Valin pitched a complete game, giving up just 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out a career-high thirteen batters.

Game Two: Onondaga 3, Erie 4 (7 innings)

The Lazers out hit the Kats, 6-4, in the night game but Erie came from behind in the final innings to end Onondaga's winning streak.

Brandon Breen starting the first with a leadoff double, scoring the first run of the game with two sacrifice fly balls by
Chad Raychel and
Josh Cosgrove.
Â
Erie was able to capitalize on an error in the fourth inning, allowing the runners on first and second base to score and take the, 2-1, advantage.

Onondaga tied the game at two when
Josh Cosgrove took ball four on a full count to walk in the tying run, and
Justin Germain delivered a clutch RBI double in the sixth inning to enter the seventh with a one run lead.

The Kats refused to lose their fourth straight game to the Lazers this week. Erie was given three walks in the final inning, tying the game on a fielding error, and taking the lead with an RBI bunt. Onondaga was unable to recover in the bottom of the seventh, striking out three times to end the game.

Six different Lazers contributed hits in the loss, with
Brandon Breen and
Justin Germain each hitting doubles.

Tommie Spinner worked through 6 innings, giving up 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and he struck out three.
Kyle Naugle was unable to save the game by giving up 2 walks, 1 run, and 1 hit in the final inning.

th in Batavia, NY when they face Genesee Community College starting at 2pm.
