The Lazers took down the visiting Hornets on Saturday afternoon during a four-game home series that will continue tomorrow afternoon at 1pm at the Onondaga Baseball Complex.

Game One: Onondaga 12, Broome 4 (7 innings)

Onondaga scored five runs in the top of the first inning after two Broome errors, 3 walks, and one hit off the bat of
Ethan Wiedmer. Broome responded with two runs in the bottom half of the first after a lead-off double.

The Lazers tacked on two more runs in the second.
Chad Raychel earned his second walk of the game to leadoff, followed by an RBI line drive to left field by
Terry Daniels, and Daniels advanced to second on the throw.
Justin Germain hit a blast to the right field corner resulting in a ground-rule double, scoring Daniels before the Lazers hit three straight ground outs.
Matthew Valin held the Hornets scoreless through the bottom half with a strikeout and a diving catch by
Chad Raychel in left field.

Following a scoreless top of the third, Broome's Kyle Balmer hit a 2-run homerun off the scoreboard in right field to cut the Lazers lead to just three runs.

OCC extended their lead through the fourth inning, with two outs and
Terry Daniels on first after a walk,
Josh Cosgrove hit a ground ball through the left side of the infield.
Joey Lowen loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch, and
Mikey Espinal took four straight balls to score the first run of the inning.
Ethan Wiedmer connected with his second single of the game to score Cosgrove, and Lowen scored the tenth run of the game after a walk to
Amir Nitowski.
Anthony Carrodeguas ended the top of the fourth when he lined out to the short-stop.Â

Onondaga added two insurance runs in the top of the sixth with two back-to-back singles by
Adrian Adams and
Ethan Wiedmer, followed by a 2-out RBI single to center field by Chad Rachel.

Matthew Valin earned the win with 9 strikeouts, giving up 4 earned runs on 6 hits through 5 innings.
Kyle Canavally struck out four and gave up 3 hits through two scoreless innings.

Multiple-hit games came from
Ethan Wiedmer with 3 hits and 2 RBIs, and
Josh Cosgrove with 2 hits and 1 RBI.
Terry Daniels and
Mikey Espinal each batted .500 with 2 walks and
Justin Germain blasted a double.

Game Two: Onondaga 14, Broome 3 (5Â innings)

Onondaga kicked off the second game in similar fashion as the first, jumping out to a four run lead. Chad Rachel and Chad Daniels earned back-to-back walks, and they were both moving on a full-count pitch to
James Salamone when he delivered a 2 RBI double to the left field warning track.
Joey Lowen then crushed a bases clearing 2-out triple to the fence in right-center field.
Jyles Carley followed with a single to right, just over the heads of the infield, to score Lowen.

The Lazers put together 3 hits and 2 walks for another four runs in the second.
Brandon Breen legged out an infield single to start the ignition, and Chad Rachel continued his keen eye at the plate to earn his fourth walk of the day.
Terry Daniels beat out an infield hit to load the bases, and
Josh Cosgrove scored two with a line drive to center field.

Two more Onondaga runs were added in the third inning to increase the lead to, 10-0. A single from
James Salamone and a fielder's choice off the bat of
Josh Cosgrove, scored
Chad Raychel and
Terry Daniels who reached base by being hit and walked.

The Lazers continued to dominate as they tacked on another four insurance runs in the fifth off three walks and a standup triple by
Chad Raychel.

Tommie Spinner kept the Hornets scoreless through three innings before two singles and a stolen base put the first run on the board for SUNY Broome in the bottom of the forth. The Hornets added two more runs in the fifth but the deficit was too grand to overcome. Spinner threw a complete game with 6 strikeouts, and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits.

Joey Lowen each hit triples and
James Salamone added a double and 3 RBIs.
Jyles Carley went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and
Josh Cosgrove added a game-high 4 RBIs.
