Box Score 2 Onondaga Baseball opened the 2017 season in Blackwood, New Jersey on Sunday afternoon. The Lazers lost game one, 3-5, versus Camden County College and won game two, 5-4.

Game One: Onondaga 3, Camden 5 (7 innings)
Chad Raychel got on base early in the first inning, by way of a Camden error. Â
Josh Cosgrove followed up with a single to right field to move Raychel into scoring position.
Chad Raychel advanced to third base with one of his four stolen bases for the game, and an error allowed the first Lazers run of the season.

The one run lead did not last long, as
Matthew Valin walked four straight in the bottom of the first which resulted in three runs for the home team, but the veteran southpaw settled down the rest of the way. Valin struck out three to end the first and added three more through his four inning performance.

Chad Raychel got it started again in the fifth after getting hit by a pitch and stealing second. Two batters later,
Terry Daniels took the walk, and by way of three Camden errors, Raychel and Daniels tied the game at three. Â The Cougars responded with two of their own runs in the bottom half of the fifth and kept the Lazers scoreless for the remaining two innings.
The Lazers tallied just five hits in the game.

Josh Cosgrove,
Joey Lowen, and
Anthony Sinicropi each collected one hit each.

Matthew Valin gave up three runs on three hits in four innings of work with six strikeouts.
Amir Nitowski came in for an inning and two-thirds, giving up four hits and two runs with two strikeouts and
Dylan McGee finished the game on the mound for OCC.

Game Two: Onondaga 5, Camden 4 (7 innings)
Brandon Breen led off game two for the Lazers with an infield single, and advanced to second off a walk to
Chad Raychel. Breen moved to third by way of 6-4-3 double play, but with two outs Breen took advantage of a Cougar error to score the first run of the game.

The Lazers jumped out to a, 2-0, lead in the third when
Chad Raychel hit a single to right-center, stole second, and
Josh Cosgrove knocked him in off a single to left. Camden got on the board in the bottom of the third to cut the Lazers lead in half, but Onondaga scored two in a three-hit fourth inning to maintain a, 4-1, advantage.

The Cougars tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth inning; however, the Lazers remained unfazed. With
Josh Cosgrove on first,
Terry Daniels hit a sacrifice fly to advance him to second, followed by a wild pitch to move Cosgrove to third. Coach
John Sheedy then sent in
James Salamone to pinch-hit, and the freshman did not disappoint, knocking in Cosgrove for the winning run.
Kyle Naugle then closed the door in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.

Onondaga accumulated eight hits in the game.
Brandon Breen and
Josh Cosgrove both went 2-for-4 with one RBI each,
Anthony Carrodeguas went 2-for-3, while
Chad Raychel and
Joey Lowen had one hit each.

Sean Connors started on the mound for the Lazers, striking out five while giving up four runs on six hits in 5.1 innings.
Kyle Naugle finished the game by striking out two and giving up one walk and one hit.

The Lazers will head to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina next week to compete in The Ripkin Experience. OCC kicks off play on Tuesday, March 14
th at 12pm when they face Northampton CC, followed by Delaware Tech at 3pm.
