Box Score 2 Little Falls, N.Y. – The Onondaga Community College baseball team lost both games on the second day of the NJCAA Region III Division III Final Four Saturday in Little Falls, NY. The Lazers lost the winner's bracket match up against Niagara County Community College 9-0 and fell in the nightcap against Herkimer College 13-5 to end its season at 33-20.
Game One: Niagara 9, Onondaga 0 (8 Innings)
Niagara put up five runs in the second, one in the fifth and three in the eighth to blank Onondaga 9-0 in the winners bracket of the NJCAA Region III Division III Final Four. With the win Niagara advanced on to Sunday's championship game. With the loss, the Lazers dropped down to the loser's bracket to face Herkimer College.
Onondaga managed just five hit in the game. Chad Raychel, Nate Budge, Justin Germain, Terry Daniels and Austin Hall each collected one hit each for the offense.
Lefty Sean Connors gave up six runs on 10 hits in four and a third innings of work with two strikeouts. Alexander Way came in out of the bullpen to pitch the final three and a third innings giving up three runs (all unearned) on just two hits and three strikeouts.
Game Two: Herkimer 13, Onondaga 5 (7 Innings)
In the elimination game on Saturday night, Herkimer put up crooked numbers in the first four frames to jump out to a 8-2 lead.
The Lazers would cut the lead in half in the top half of the second inning on two hits. Nate Budge led off with a walk and advanced to second on a Justin Germain groundout to the third baseman. Daniels then singled on an infield hit to the shortstop advancing Budge to third. Next batter Josh Cosgrove lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Budge making it 2-1 in favor of the Generals.
 Herkimer scored one run in the second and three runs in the third to make it a 6-1 ballgame before Onondaga could score another run.
In the fourth, Germain hit a towering homerun to left center, his fourth of the year, to cut the Herkimer lead to four at 6-2.
After Herkimer put up another two spot in their half of the fourth, the Lazers would strike back with two of their own in the fifth and one in the sixth to make it 8-5. In the fifth inning, John Larca hit a one-out infield single to the shortstop to get the rally started. The bases became loaded after a walk to Raychel and a single to left from Fitzgibbons. Budge then hit a comebacker to the pitcher who came home to force out Larca but threw the ball into right field on the throw to first which scored Raychel and Fitzgibbons. After a two-out walk to Germain, Daniels roped the ball right at the left fielder to end the threat.
Onondaga inched closer in the sixth when Hall lined a double to center, advanced the third on a wild pitch and then scored on another wild pitch to make it 8-5.
The Generals responded to the Lazers threat by posting two of their own in the sixth and then three in the seventh to win 13-5.
Lefty Matt Vallin started on the mound for Onondaga yielding eight runs on six hits and five walks in three and two-thirds innings. Righty Nick Claver tossed the final three innings giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits, while collecting four strikeouts. Â
Freshman Chad Raychel and Freshman Aaron Beck were honored on the All-Tournament team.
With the lose Onondaga finishes third in Region III with an overall record of 33-20. The 33 wins is third most all-time by a Lazers baseball team. Â Â Â
