The Onondaga Community College baseball team won the decisive game three 7-5 over Hudson Valley Community College Saturday afternoon to advance to the NJCAA Region III tournament hosted by Herkimer College in Little Falls, NY this weekend.

Game One (5/14): Onondaga 11, Hudson Valley CC 9

In game one, Onondaga would score the first eight runs of the game to jump out to an 8-0 lead in the seventh inning. Hudson Valley responded in their half of the seventh with seven runs to close the lead to one run. The Lazers extended their lead to two with a run in the eighth but the Vikings tied it up at 9-9 in thebottom of the ninth with two of their own. In the top of the 11^th inning, Onondaga plated two runs to take game one by a final of 11-9

Nate Budge led the way offensively for the Lazers blasting his fourth homerun of the season. Budge finished the game going 3-6 with two RBI and three runs scored. Justin Germain followed suit with his third homerun of the season and finished 2-5 with two RBI and a run scored.  Catcher Paul Fitzgibbons went 3-5 including a double with three RBI and a run scored. John Larca and Terry Daniels each added two hits, while Chad Raychel, Avery Brooks (double), Austin Hall and Brandon Breen each booked one hit for Onondaga's 16 hit attack.

Aaron Beck was handed the ball in game one going six innings and issuing three runs on six hits. Alexander Way pitched an inning in relief giving up four runs on three hits. Zach Martz tossed a clean eighth inning before giving way to Kyle Naugle. The righty surrendered two runs in the ninth but pitched clean 10^th and 11^th innings to pick up the win

Game Two (5/15): Hudson Valley CC 9, Onondaga 8

The Vikings put up crooked numbers in five of seven frames to tie the three game series at one game apiece and force a rubber match later on. Hudson Valley jumped out to a 8-2 lead after four innings of play. The Lazers put up four runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to make it a 9-8 score after eight but failed to score in the top of the ninth to tie the game.

Hall booked a 2-3 game at the plate with three RBI and a run scored, while Fitzgibbons, Budge and Breen each collected two hits. Larca, Raychel, Germain, Daniels and Mathers each found their way on base via a hit.

Lefty Matt Valin suffered the loss going two and one-third innings giving up six runs on six hits. Nick Claver pitched a solid three and two-thirds innings allowing three runs (all unearned) on five hits. Paul Musso and Martz each logged one innings of work each giving up no runs.  

 Game Three (5/15): Onondaga 7, Hudson Valley CC 5

With the season on the line and a chance to advance to the NJCAA Region III tournament, Onondaga would put up six combined runs in the first three innings to punch its ticket to the Region III final four by winning 7-5.

Budge led the offense in game three going 3-5 including a triple a two RBI. Raychel, Fitzgibbons and Daniels registered two hits each and Germain and Josh Cosgrove lined one hit each.

Lefty Sean Connors went five and two-thirds innings yielding four runs (three earned) on six hits. Martz was first out of the bullpen pitching two and one-third innings of relief of clean baseball. Naugle shut the door on the Vikings in the ninth.

The Lazers, now 32-18, return to action on Friday in Little Falls, NY for the NJCAA Region III Final Four as the three seed. Onondaga will play the second-seed Herkimer Generals on Friday at 2 p.m.
