Lazers sweep Corning CC

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Game 1 - Second-inning rally sparks blowout win for Onondaga Lazers, 11-3

Onondaga Lazers shut the door early on Corning, capturing an 11-3 victory on Thursday.  The game was decided quickly as Onondaga Lazers exerted its will early with nine runs in the first three innings.

An RBI single by Brandon Kapcinski, an RBI single by Joey Picone, a bases loaded walk and a single by Ed Tagliareni, a fielder's choice, an RBI single by Chris Rave, an RBI single by Ryan Paige, and a two-run single by David Nuzzo in the second inning supplied the early offense for Onondaga Lazers.  Ryan Paige had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits.

Austin Smith brought the heat in relief against Corning.  Corning managed just one hit off of Smith, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.  Starter Payten Boice got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Brandon Kapcinski, Ryan Paige, Wes Randall and Tagliareni  helped lead Onondaga Lazers. They combined for nine hits and five RBIs.
Kevin was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 11 runs in six innings, walked three and struck out seven.

Onondaga Lazers scored one run in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the fifth. In the fourth, Onondaga Lazers scored on an RBI single by Brandon Kapcinski, bringing home Ryan Paige.


Game 2 - Early lead gives Onondaga Lazers easy victory over Corning, 10-0
 
Onondaga Lazers refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Corning, recording a 10-0 victory on Thursday.  Nine runs in the first three innings allowed Onondaga Lazers to put the game away early.

A walk by Brandon Kapcinski and a three-run triple by David Nuzzo in the first inning helped Onondaga Lazers put some runs on the board early.
Zach Ortiz racked up four RBIs on two hits for Onondaga Lazers. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Corning couldn't get anything going as long as Ryan Matthews was on the bump. Matthews gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out 10 during his five innings of work.  Skylar Leljedal was charged with the loss. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked four and struck out five.

Onondaga Lazers added five more runs in the bottom of the third. Joey Picone started the inning with a single, bringing home Chris Rave and Ryan Paige. That was followed up by Zach Ortiz's double, bringing home Brandon Kapcinski, Joey and Ben Verkley.

Onondaga goes to 12-0 in region 3 play,  22-6 overall.
