Utica, NY - Onondaga Track and Field capped off a historic season with its strongest national championship performance in program history this weekend, finishing with eight All-Americans, five national runner-up finishes, and two national champions.
From the opening day of competition, the Lazers made their presence known on the national stage. Thursday proved to be one of the greatest single days in program history, highlighted by
Ny'Quez Madison capturing the national championship in the triple jump with a school-record leap of 14.45m. The men's 4x800m relay team of
Bradock Salisbury,
Raul Rosario,
Teddy Popp, and
Paul Clark earned All-American honors with a third-place finish and school record.
Charlie English delivered a national runner-up performance in the pole vault with another school-record clearance. The momentum continued throughout the weekend as
Hannah Wagner earned national runner-up honors in the heptathlon before returning Saturday to become a national champion in the 400m hurdles.
Andrew Lee and
Zariona Hudson each added national runner-up finishes in the high jump, while
Ny'Quez Madison closed the meet with another runner-up finish in the long jump.
The men's sprint and distance groups continued to shine against the nation's best competition. The 4x100m relay squad earned All-American status with a seventh-place finish, while the men's 4x400m relay team closed out the championships with a school-record performance and another All-American finish. Diallo Corprew earned All-American honors in the 100m, Jackson Allen placed eighth nationally in the 10k, Raul Rosario added an All-American finish in the steeplechase, and Paul Clark finished fourth in the 1500m to cap off an outstanding championship meet. Across every event group, Onondaga competed with confidence, toughness, and belief, establishing itself as one of the premier NJCAA programs in the country.
"This weekend was the culmination of months of hard work, sacrifice, and commitment from every athlete on this team. To leave nationals with two national champions, eight All-Americans, and so many historic performances says everything about the culture these athletes have built. The six sophomores we are losing represented Onondaga with pride, and this group has set a new standard for what this program can become. I cannot be more proud of how much time and emotion they have given me and this program. We will always be a family." Head Coach, Taylor Bouchard
The season ends with 17 school records and 72 all-time school marks.
