Lazers Perform at Cortland Classic

Cortland, NY - Onondaga Track & Field competed at the Cortland Classic hosted by SUNY Cortland this weekend.

Across three days of competition, the team delivered a wave of school records, national qualifiers, and top-10 performances that continue to stack into one of the strongest seasons in program history. The combined events set the tone early, as Hannah Wagner (Chittenango, NY / Chittenango HS) surged to a school-record 3,477 points in the heptathlon which ranks her No. 1 in the country. She also breaks the program record in the 100m hurdles. Raul Rosario (Middletown, NY / Pine Bush HS) answered on the men's side with a 3rd place regional finish in his first ever decathlon 3,960, highlighting the team's toughness and versatility. On the track, Diallo Corprew (Elmira, NY / Elmira HS) electrified with a school record in the 100m (10.92), while the men's 4x400m relay narrowly missed history by just .06, clocking the second-fastest time ever (3:28.17). The men's 4x800m group made sure history was still written, capturing a school record in 8:24.29, as distance and sprint groups alike continued to elevate the standard.

The throws and jumps groups delivered a focused, high-impact performance at Cortland, continuing to establish themselves as a cornerstone of the team's success. Parrish Morrison (Baldwinsville, NY / Baker HS) led the throws with a massive mark in the hammer (36.29m), moving to No. 2 all-time and hitting a national qualifying standard, while also adding a solid performance in the shot put. On the women's side, Emma Marshall's (Syracuse, NY / Westhill HS) national qualifying throw in the discus highlighted a strong day for the group, with Karly Vaas (New Woodstock, NY / Cazenovia HS) adding another top-three all-time mark in the hammer and contributing across multiple events. The consistency and progression across the throws squad continues to stand out, with multiple athletes climbing the all-time list.

In the jumps, Andrew Lee (Roosevelt, NY / Roosevelt HS) delivered one of the top performances of the meet, clearing 1.99m in the high jump to rank No. 2 all-time and among the best marks nationally. Zariona Hudson added a school record in the women's high jump (1.51m), continuing her breakout season, while the horizontal jumps group showed depth with Andrew Lee and Logan Zapf (Baldwinsville, NY / Baker HS) each landing top-10 marks in the long jump. The group's ability to produce both top-end marks and across-the-board contributions reflects a unit that is steadily gaining confidence and peaking at the right time.
