No.6 Onondaga Men's Basketball downed the Finger Lakes Lakers, 78-67, on Saturday afternoon in Allyn Hall.
The visiting Lakers held the lead through the first four minutes of play when
Tae Elijah and
Tyler Sullivan hit back-to-back threes to capture the advantage and the Lazers never gave it back. OCC entered the half with a, 44-33, edge thanks to
Nate Cutler draining 5 three-pointers in the final seven minutes of the first.
Finger Lakes was able to fight back in the second half and get within two points with 4:45 left on the clock, but with the lead slipping away
Will Cutler placed a layup, drew the foul, and completed the three point play. Sophomore,
Nolan Dalton followed up with the play of his career when he soared above the defense to tip in an offensive board. The Lazers shutout their opponent in the final four minutes, scoring eleven unanswered to earn the victory.
Tyler Sullivan had 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists for the game.
Nate Cutler shot 5-for-6 from downtown, with all of his 15 points scored in the first half.
Tae Elijah (4 assists, 5 rebounds) and
James Walker each drained 13 points, and
Will Cutler scored 9 and captured 8 boards.
No. 6 Onondaga travels to Auburn, NY on Tuesday to face Cayuga Community College at 7:30pm for the final game of the regular season. A win against the Spartan's will force a tie with top-seeded Corning Community College (10-2) for the MSAC Regular Season Championship.
