Box Score #1 Onondaga Men's Basketball was upset by #7 Mohawk Valley Community College, 87-80, on Monday night in Allyn Hall.
The Hawks scored six unanswered points to start the game, leaving the Lazers behind until
Nate Cutler hit a trey to take their first lead (23-24) with 9:30 left in the first half. OCC continued their momentum to pull away from the Hawks, gaining a 10 point advantage with three minutes left in the first, but MVCC closed out the first half by going on a, 9-2, run and cut the Lazers lead to, 43-40. Â
Onondaga lost their edge halfway through the second half after Mohawk Valley made back to back layups, swinging the 61-59 score to the visiting Hawks. The Lazers battled back to within two but were unable to take over the lead for the remainder of the game.
James Walker (9 rebounds) and
Tyler Sullivan (6 assists) each scored 16 points apiece, and
Tae Elijah had 13 points.
The Lazers hit the road on Wednesday to take on conference opponent Finger Lakes Community College at 8pm.
