Box Score No.1 Onondaga Men's Basketball won their MSAC-Opener by defeating the Corning Red Barons (11-1), 81-72, on Saturday afternoon in Allyn Hall.
After being shutout in the first three minutes of the game, the Lazers lights-out defense forced three straight turnovers to take the, 11-9, lead and they never gave it up. The Lazers gained as much as a 17 point edge when
Will Cutler hit one of his four trifectas with four minutes remaining in the first half.
Onondaga had an eleven point cushion at the half, but the Red Barons took advantage of the break to regroup and they cut the Lazers advantage to five with 7:48 left in the game. With the lead slipping away, OCC's offense scored four unanswered points and outscored Corning 18-9 to end the game, earning their fifteenth victory of the season.
The Cutler twins were on fire all night;
Nate Cutler tallied 15 points and 4 rebounds while
Will Cutler had 14 points and 5 boards. The team-high 19 points belonged to
Tyler Sullivan, and
Brian Daily added 10 points, going 6-for-7 from the free throw line.
