Box Score 4 Myrtle Beach, SC – The Onondaga Community College softball team opened up the 2016 season with eight games down in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Game One: Deleware Technical CC 5, Onondaga 1In game one, sophomore pitcher
Morgan Nichols went the distance for Onondaga giving up 11 hits on five runs while collecting a strikeout. The Lazers turned a terrific double play to highlight the game. Sophomore INF/C

Game Two: Mercer County CC 4, Onondaga 0Freshman pitcher
Chelcee Staats threw six solid innings giving up four on just two hits. Freshman OF/IF
Casey Gray collected the lone hit for the Lazers. Freshman pitcher
Victoria Duffy closed the game in the circle in the seventh inning to shut down Mercer. Sophomore infielder
Morgan Neadom turned an unassisted double play to highlight the defense.
Game Three: Brookdale CC 9, Onondaga 1Freshman outfielder
Emily Clapper collected two hits including a double to lead the Onondaga offense, while
Samantha Moon collected the lone RBI on a base hit.
Casey Gray and
Kyra Hunsinger each collected a hit as well.
Game Four: Southeaster Illinois College CC 13, Onondaga 10Emily Clapper again led the Lazer offense with four hits including two doubles and three RBI.
Morgan Neadom,
Morgan Nichols, Casey Grey and
Caitlin Wormuth each collected two hits apiece. Sophomore infielder
Jess Rodriguez had two sacrifice bunts.
Chelcee Staats took the loss in the circle.
Game Five: St. Louis CC 4, Onondaga 3 (10 innings) Onondaga played their toughest game yet going 10 innings in the losing effort. Offensively, the Lazers were led by
Kyra Hunsinger who collected two hits, a run and an RBI. Tori Duffy also collected an RBI in the game.
Morgan Nichols pitched all 10 innings with seven strikeouts.
Game Six: St. Louis CC 8, Onondaga 4 Onondaga managed six hits in the loss.
Emily Clapper smashed a triple and an RBI, while
Morgan Nichols added a double and an RBI of her own.

Onondaga (0-6) completes their eight game Spring Break trip tomorrow with games against Mohawk Valley Community College and South Suburban College starting at 9:30 a.m.
