Syracuse, NY – Mark Twain once famously said, "Reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated."  That quote is certainly appropriate for the Onondaga Community College men's basketball team.  The Lazers were believed to have had their season come to an end with a loss at Finger Lakes Community College last Saturday, February 15th.  On Sunday afternoon that turned out to not quite be the case, as the Lazers (10-18) received an unexpected bid to the National Junior College Athletic Association Region III Tournament.  The bid extended Onondaga's string of consecutive post-season appearances to 14, the longest active streak among Mid-State Athletic Conference schools.

Onondaga is the #9 seed in the tournament, and will play at #8 seed Cayuga Community College (10-17), Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm.  The winner of the Onondaga-Cayuga game will play top seeded SUNY Delhi in a quarter-final contest at Delhi on Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm.  Onondaga and Cayuga split two regular season contests, with each team winning on their home court.
