Onondaga Community College to host SUNY Broome in MSAC tilt

Syracuse, NY - The Onondaga Community College (6-11, 1-1) men's basketball team returns home on Tuesday evening to face SUNY Broome (7-8, 0-2) in a Mid-State Athletic Conference contest.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm in the Allyn Hall Gymnasium on the Onondaga campus.

Both teams will enter Tuesday's contest looking to bounce back from defeats on Saturday afternoon.  The Lazers struggled through a cold shooting game, making only 31.1% of their shots from the floor, and wound up with their lowest scoring output of the season.  As a result, Corning Community College pulled away late for a 75-60 win.  Tyler Bliss (Liverpool) was Onondaga's only double figure scorer with 14 points.  Broome held a 2-point lead with less than a minute to go against Tompkins Cortland Community College.  The Hornets couldn't hold on, however, and dropped a 70-66 decision.  Frank D'Esti led a balanced Broome attack with 18 points.

Vaughndell Brantley (Cicero-North Syracuse) continues to pace Onondaga in scoring, averaging 14.9 points per game.  Bliss is also averaging double figures, scoring at a 14 point per game clip.  He is also Onondaga's top rebounder, pulling down 8.8 rebounds per game, and is shooting a team best 56.6% from the floor.  Joe Piazza (Central Square P. V. Moore) averages 9.4 points per contest.  Point guard Ben Honahan (Malone Franklin Academy) is handing out a team best 3.4 assists per game.  He is also the Lazers' top three-point shooter, having connected on 38 long range goals.

Point guard Jovanni Chatham leads SUNY Broome with 15.7 points and 5.1 assists per game.  Forward Adam Tillotson is scoring 11.9 points per game, and pulling down a team best 7.5 rebounds per game.  Guard Jamie Curtis just joined the Hornets and is averaging 11.5 points per game in his two contests to date.

Tuesday's game marks the first of 5 in 9 days for the Lazers.  Onondaga will play three consecutive road games, traveling to Jefferson Community College and Tompkins Cortland Community College for a pair of MSAC games on Thursday and Saturday respectively, before taking on Mohawk Valley Community College in a non-conference matchup on Martin Luther King Day.  The Lazers will conclude the stretch with a 6:00 pm home game in the SRC Arena & Events Center on Wednesday, January 22nd.
