Syracuse, NY - The Onondaga Community College men's basketball team ran out to a 14-point halftime advantage that grew to as much as 20 early in the second half, then held off the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry for their first win of the season.  The Mighty Oaks rallied to within 8 with just over 5 minutes to go but could get no closer, as the Lazers held ESF without a field goal for the last 3:11 of the contest.

Vaughndell Brantley (Cicero North Syracuse) led Onondaga with 20 points, while Joseph Piazza (Central Square P.V. Moore) scored all of his 18 points in the first half.  Tyler Bliss (Liverpool) added 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Torrence Commodore (Syracuse Corcoran) and Ahmad McKinney (Syracuse Henninger) added 10 points each.  Suthod Young led ESF with a game high 23 points and Danny MacElrath added 17 for the Mighty Oaks.

Onondaga's 5-game season opening homestand continues this weekend with a pair of games.  The Lazers will host SUNY Adirondack at 1 pm on Saturday afternoon, then turn around and face Hudson Valley Community College at 2 pm on Sunday.  Both games will be played in Allyn Hall.
