The Onondaga Community College men's basketball team will return to the court on Wednesday evening, when they host another local school, the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, in a 7:00 pm tip-off in Allyn Hall on the Onondaga campus.  Both schools will be seeking their first victory of the season, as the Lazers dropped contests to Northampton Community College and Delaware County Community College over the weekend, while ESF fell, 86-64, at Broome Community College on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Torrence Commodore (Syracuse Corcoran) has been Onondaga's leading scorer in both of their contests so far.  He opened his college career with 16 points against Northampton on Saturday, and followed it up with 26 against Delaware County.  Sophomore captain Tyler Bliss (Liverpool) is averaging 13.5 points and 6 rebounds per contest, while guards Joseph Piazza (Central Square P.V. Moore) and Benjamin Honahan (Malone Franklin Academy) are averaging 12.5 and 11.5 points respectively.  Honahan is handing out 5 assists per game, and Commodore also averages 6 rebounds.

The ESF program is entering its 4th year, and is coached by former Lazer assistant Scott Blair.  The Mighty Oaks began as a club team in 2010, and elevated to full varsity status the following year.  Lazer alum Brandon Haughton is also on the ESF coaching staff.  Wednesday's game will mark the 3rd meeting between Onondaga and ESF, with the Lazers coming away victorious in both 2011 and 2012. Junior guard Danny MacElrath is the top returnee for the Mighty Oaks, as he averaged 10 points and 2 assists per contest a year ago.

Following Wednesday's game, Onondaga will continue its 5-game season opening homestand this weekend, with a 1 pm tip-off on Saturday against SUNY Adirondack, followed by a 2 pm start against Hudson Valley Community College on Sunday.  ESF's next contest will be at 1 pm on Sunday afternoon at Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
