Box Score Syracuse, NY - The visiting Spartans from Northampton rallied from a 6-point halftime deficit to defeat Onondaga in the opening game of the Onondaga Community College Classic. The Lazers held a 77-76 lead with 4:36 to go when Northampton's Astin Jones connected on a three-pointer to give the Spartans the lead for good. Trailing by 2 with 1:36 to go Onondaga forced back to back turnovers and drew fouls trying to convert both. However, the Lazers missed 3 of 4 from the line and Northampton went 8 for 8 in the final minute to secure the win.
Malcolm Lyles led Northampton with 27 points and Brent Maron added 20. Onondaga was paced by freshman Torrence Commodore (Syracuse Henninger) who scored 16 points. Fellow freshman
Joseph Piazza (Central Square P.V. Moore) added 14 for the Lazers.
Northampton advances to Sunday's 2:15 championship game in the SRC Arena against Anne Arundel Community College. Anne Arundel defeated Delaware County Community College, 90-88, in today's second semi-final. Onondaga will play Delaware County in the consolation game at 2:00 pm in Allyn Hall.
