Onondaga Softball hosted Niagara County Community College on Tuesday afternoon for a single semi-final game, and the Lazers ended the Thunderwolves season with a, 6-4, come from behind victory.

Niagara did not waste any time getting a 4-0 lead through the first two innings. The Thunderwolves started the game by earning back-to-back walks, and despite
Alyssa Durrette fanning three in the first inning, Niagara connected with two RBI singles to take the early 2-0 lead. They followed up with a two RBI in-the-park homerun by Kelsi Palistrant in the second.

Alyssa Durrette tallied five strikeouts through the first two innings, but gave up five hits and five walks before
Tori Duffy relieved her during the third with runners on first and second. Duffy forced two quick outs with a dribbler back to the mound and a popup to third base before walking the bases loaded. With the pressure on, Duffy took the third out herself with three straight strikes to end the inning. Duffy added five more strikeouts and gave up just two hits to keep Niagara scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Mariah Howe kept the Lazers hitless until
Micaela Madigan started the third with blooper over the infield.
Katelyn Stubbs legged out a bunt single to move Madigan to second.
Casey Gray then batted in her first RBI of the game and a throwing error by Niagara allowed Stubbs to tie the game. Two batters and two outs later,
Nicole Sheffer hit a single down the right field line and
Jazz Powless smashed a double to score Sheffer and crawl within one run of the Thunderwolves.

The Lazers threatened in the fifth inning, loading the bases with three singles from Gray, Prell and Sheffer, but the Niagara defense pulled of a 1-2-3 double play to end the inning and keep their one run lead.

OCC was not ready for their season to end as the Lazers defense blitzed the Thunderwolves in the sixth inning.
Casey Gray took care of the first batter with a ground out to third base.
Tori Duffy took the second out with a five pitch strikeout. Kelsi Palistrant then beat out a single and attempt to steal second, but
Nicole Sheffer threw a dart to
Katelyn Stubbs for the final out of the inning.Â

Emily Clapper led off the sixth with a perfectly placed ball through the left side of the infield that she turned into a double with her 24
th stolen base of the season.
Tori Duffy helped her own cause by tying the game with an RBI line drive down the left field line.
Katelyn Stubbs followed with another single to move Duffy to third and stole second to put two runners in scoring position for
Casey Gray. Gray proved her experience with rip up the middle to score the game winning runs.

Niagara put two runners on in the seventh with a lead-off walk and a single, but the Lazers defense held strong.

Onondaga advances to the NJCAA Region III Championship starting on Friday. The Lazers will face Corning Community College in a best of three series to determine the 'B' Champion that will represent Region III. Top-ranked Herkimer will face Genesee to determine the Region 'A' Champion.
