Lazers Softball gave up the lead in both games of the doubleheader at Herkimer Community College, currently ranked second in the country, on Tuesday afternoon.
Game One: Onondaga 5, Herkimer 8
The Lazers held a 5-1 advantage heading into the back half of the first game when the Generals made their comeback. Herkimer scored one in the fourth, four in the fifth, and two more in the sixth to steal the game from OCC.
Jazz Powless and
Casey Gray both went 2-for-4 and Powless added an RBI.
Courtney Piazza knocked in two runners as she went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Alyssa Durrette took the loss in the complete game effort, giving up 8 runs on 12 hits.
Game Two: Onondaga 2, Herkimer 12 (5 innings)
Onondaga had a narrow, 2-1, lead entering the fifth inning but Herkimer scored eleven runs in the top half to eliminate the hopes of an upset.
Jazz Powless completed her great day at the plate, hitting perfect in game two with two hits and an RBI. Kateyln Stubbs,
Mati Ponsetti, and
Amanda Prell added hits for the Lazers with Prell hitting in one run.
Tori Duffy gave up 8 runs on 11 hits through four innings.
Rae Printup finished the last inning, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits.
Onondaga returns home on Saturday to host Tompkins Cortland Community College at 1pm
