Box Score Nicholas Garbarino scored a career-high 10 points and tallied a career-best eight goals as the top-ranked Onondaga Community College men's lacrosse team made quick work of nationally-ranked SUNY-Delhi on Friday as the No. 1 Lazers downed the No. 6 Broncos 26-2 at the Binghamton Sports Complex in its season-opener.
With the win, Onondaga moves to 1-0 and extends its winning streak to 88 straight games. With the loss, SUNY-Delhi opens its 2015 campaign at 0-1.
The Lazers dominated in every facet of the game, suffocating the Broncos on the offensive end of the field while overwhelming them on defense.
Sophomore
Seth Leonard found open teammates all game as the Carthage native finished with five assists in the win while also netting a goal.Â
Kyle Killen added four points on two goals and two helpers while
Tom Pritchard contributed four points of his own on a goal and three assists.Â
Matt Bennett also had a pair of goals and two assits.
Sean Lattimore got in on the action, finishing with three points and
Joseph Ondrako chipped in with a pair of goals.
In net,
Holden McDonald made seven stops and
Jack Sweeney corralled five shots.
Onondaga controlled the X all game long with
Sam Watts winning 12-of-14 draws and
Doug Jamieson coming away with eight face-offs in 11 chances.
As a team, the Lazers converted 26 of their 66 shots while scooping up 48 groundballs.
Onondaga will return to the field at 5 p.m. on Wednesday when it welcomes Finger Lakes Community College to David W. Murphy Field.
