Brittney Sears (Phoenix) allowed just one hit and struck out three to improve to 4-1 on the season. With Sears keeping the Broome offense in check, the Lazers took control of the game in the bottom of the 2nd with four consecutive singles by
Whitney Smith,
Sarah Bregg,
Elizabeth Riegler and
Chantel Hammond. All four Lazer scored in the inning and with Sear's pitching had the game in control.
Leading the Lazer offense for the game were
Sammi Loveless (Central Square) 3 for 3 and drove in 5 rbi's,
Chantel Hammond (Ithaca) 3 for 3, 3rbi's and
Whitney Smith (Port Byron) 2 for 2.
Game 2 - Onondaga 10, Broome 1The combination of explosive bats by
Jenn Deuel (Whitesboro),
Kayla Kibling (Bishop Ludden),
Brittney Sears (Phoenix),
Whitney Smith (Port Byron) and
Sarah Bregg (Phoenix) and strong pitching from
Elizabeth Riegler (Adirondack) secured a 10-1 win in game 2 of the double header. Deuel, Kibling, Sears, Smith and Bregg batted a combined 10 for 13 and drove in 5 rbi's. On the day, Deuel recorded her third homerun and Smith added 3 stolen bases.
Riegler limited Broome to just 1 run on 3 hits, with 5 strikeouts and 2 base on balls. She improved her record to 3-0 on the season.
Onondaga plays at Mohawk Valley Community College on Tuesday.
