Watertown, NY - Onondaga Women's Basketball competed at the 2025-26 Region 3 Tournament hosted by Jefferson Community College, falling in the Championship game, taking the runner-up spot.
Onondaga entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed, earning a first-round bye, and taking on the No. 8 Hudson Valley Vikings in the quarterfinal round on Friday night at 5:30pm. The two faced off in mid-January, where Onondaga defeated the Vikings 64-44.
The 5:30pm tip started with Lazers took an early lead and extended on to pull ahead 24-10 in the 1st quarter. Outscoring the Vikings 14-10 in the 2nd gave them a 38-20 lea at the break. Onondaga continue to pull ahead throughout the second half with no threat and taking an 81-51 victory.Â
Jada Crocker (Fairport, NY / Fairport HS),
Aunnie Stier (Miami, FL / John A. Ferguson HS), and
Morgan Vasquez (New York, NY / Lab School Finance Technology) each tallied 15 points. Crocker recorded a double-double grabbing 17 rebounds. The Lazers shot 40% from the field. The win advanced them to the semifinal round on Saturday against the No. 5 Mohawk Valley Hawks.
Tipping off at 3pm,
Mary Hamer (Belfast, NY / Belfast HS) led the Lazers to a tight victory recording a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The Hawks led OCC 30-28 at the half, before a big 3rd quarter outscoring the Hawks 22-9 to lead by 11. OCC pulled out a 59-53 victory after the 40 minutes, advancing to the Championship and ending the Hawks' season. The Lazers shot 31% from the field, 26.3% from three, and 52.6 from the freethrow line. Stier tallied 12 points in the victory.

Onondaga took on the No.2 Fulton-Montgomery Raiders for the Region 3 Championship on Sunday at 1pm. The two faced off in early December, where OCC defeated the Raiders 79-59.
Amiya Johnson (Fairport, NY / Faiport HS) led all scorers with 18 points over the Raiders, going 5-13 from three. Hamer, Stier, and Vasquez each tallied 10. Fulton-Montgomery led OCC 29-23 at the break and came out on top at the end, 73-61. OCC shot 28.2% from the field, 25.7% from the arc, and 53.3% from the freethrow line.

Mary Hamer were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The women finish the season with a 23-4 (.852) overall record.
