Saranac Lake, NY - Women's Soccer traveled North on Saturday for a rainy region 3 matchup with the North Country Saints. The teams previously met in the 2024 region 3b title game at Genesee Community College where Onondaga took a 4-0 victory.
Juliana Elberson put the Lazers on top just 35 seconds into the match on a goal with the assist from
Briana Dorrance. The Lazers remained on top until the Saints put one in in a penalty kick at 30:15, tying it 1-1. The physical match entered the half still with a tie score. A tight second half remained 1-1 until just under 4 minutes remaining when
Brooke Widrick put one passed the Saints goalie to give the Lazers the lead with time near expiration. A solid 8-save performance in goal for
Geona Wood earned the Lazers the victory.
Moving to 2-0, the Lazers have the week off until Sunday, September 14th when they travel to Utica, NY for a match with the No. 2 Mohawk Valley Hawks.
