Corning, NY - Onondaga Volleyball traveled to their final season pod at Corning Community College for matches with Fulton-Montgomery and Jefferson. Going 1-1 on the day, the Lazers finish with a regular season record of 12-7 (.631), their best showing since 2018.
Match one with the Fulton-Montgomery Raiders began at 12pm. The two teams' first meeting of the season was a five-set match with the Lazers taking a 15-10 loss in the fifth after recovering from losing the first two sets by 7 and 11 points. Offense was led by Sophomore
Ella Beckering with 14 kills alongside 31 assists from
Chylure Bucktooth. Libero
Samantha Sovocool grabbed 27 digs.
Match two with Jefferson was another five setter, but with a victory for Onondaga. The Lazers took a dominant 25-12 in in set two and a 25-21 win in the fourth before closing it out 15-13 in the fifth, securing a win. Beckering had 16 more kills against the Cannoneers and Bucktooth with another 30 assists. Sovocool grabbed 28 digs in the match.
Onondaga received the No. 2 seed in the MSAC Championship to take place this Saturday, October 25th. The Lazers will take on the No. 3 Jefferson Cannoneers again in the first round. The match will be played at 11am and the Championship will follow at 2pm.
