Syracuse, NY - Onondaga Women's Soccer hosted Herkimer in their final regular season match on Saturday afternoon. The Lazers fell just short, 3-2, taking their first loss, finishing the regular season 10-1-1.
Onondaga was first on the board in the match after
Briana Dorrance scored on a free kick in the 10th minute, taking an early lead. Herkimer found their first opportunity at 21:26, on a penalty kick just out of reach of Lazer keeper
Geona Wood, tying it up 1-1.
The Generals kicked it off in the second half fifteen minutes in, bouncing one in off a free kick to take the 2-1 edge. But Sophomore
Poppy Diabo had a quick response at 68:00 from deep off an assist from
Lillian Walsh to tie it back up, 2-2. With time winding down, the Generals responded again bouncing in another with just under fifteen minutes remaining. The Lazers maintained possession for the majority of the remaining ten minutes, but were unable to capitalize, falling 3-2 in the match.
The Lazers remain in the No. 1 spot in Region III as they await post season standings to determine their first matchup.
