Syracuse, NY - Men's Basketball hosted SUNY Broome in Allyn Hall taking their first conference win over the Hornets.
The teams fought hard from the beginning with a slight edge to Broome before the Lazers took their first lead with just over three minutes remaining in the first half on a layup from
Jaiden Cole making it a 32-31 game. OCC kept and extended this lead until the half. Thanks to a last second basket from
Gavyn Hogue, the Lazers entered halftime with a 41-33 lead.
Broome came out in the second half taking an 8-2 run over the Lazers, forcing a timeout. The Hornets took their first lead of the half at 12:00. They kept this momentum hitting back-to-back threes with just under 10 minutes, leaving OCC trailing by their largest margin of the half. OCC closed the margin quick tying it back up with 7 minutes remaining. After several lead changes, OCC trailed by 1 point with just under a minute to go and the ball in their possession. They were able to reclaim the lead on a layup from Joe Guerrero after 2 offensive rebounds that shaved 30 seconds off the clock. Gage Kielmann grabbed the rebound and was immediately fouled by the Hornets sending him to the line for two freethrows, giving them a 3-point lead. Broome had one last possession with 7.4 remaining, but couldn't capitalize, with Onondaga taking the 81-78 victory.
