Syracuse, NY - Men's Basketball returned to Allyn Hall hosting 4-year SUNY ESF in their first home game of 2025. The Lazers fell to the Mighty Oaks 90-80 moving to 3-12.
The Lazers came out slow with 2 missed layups and allowing two Mighty Oak threes. Another Mighty Oak field goal resulted in an 8-0 start. The Lazers scored their first basket at 16:03.
Lucio Cole gave OCC its' first lead with floater at 17-16 and forced an ESF timeout. A couple late threes and a steal and breakaway layup gave OCC an 48-40 lead at half.
The Mighty Oaks started the second half hot with 7 straight points. An OCC technical foul sent ESF to the line to take a 3-point lead with 2 freethrows. Another technical foul issued shortly after to the OCC bench allowed ESF's lead to grow leading to their largest 15-point lead of the game. The Lazers chipped away to close the lead with a few defensive stops, but couldn't recover. Joe Guerrero fouled out of the game with 2 minutes remaining. A double technical fouled issued to ESF and OCC's
Devonte Gordon would end the game and ejecting Gordon with 3 seconds remaining.
The Lazers were led by
Gage Kielmann with 19 points.
Gavyn Hogue,
Devonte Gordon, and Joe Guerro each had 15.
Sam Gallager made his debut to the floor with 7 points and 4 steals for the Lazers.
The men will be back in Allyn Hall on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00pm against SUNY Adirondack.
