Syracuse, NY - Women's Soccer hosted North Country Community College is their 2024 season debut taking a 2-0 win over the Saints moving to 1-0.

The Lazers have a strong returning sophomore class including 2023 Region III Player of the Year, Harmony Russell, who scored both goals in the Lazer victory. Both goals were assisted by Lowville native, Brooke Widrick, with a strong showing in the freshman's first collegiate appearance.

Russell found the back of the net with 2:18 remaining in the first half after a long back and forth battle between the two teams. Russell carried this momentum into the second half finding net on a deep shot just 2 minutes in on the assist from Widrick putting the Lazers up 2-0.

Freshman, Geona Wood, was credited with 4 saves in goal and recorded her first collegiate shutout against the Saints.

Onondaga will look to defeat Tompkins-Cortland Community College this Saturday, August 31st at 1:00pm on Wilbur Field. The two teams previously met last October where Onondaga took a hefty 6-0 win over the Panthers.
