Syracuse, NY - Women's Basketball kicked off the season with a conference matchup against the Genesee Community College Cougars. The Lazers took nothing short of a dominant win over the Cougars, 89-44, to start the year off strong.

Brianna Weaver,
Kathryn Grainger,
Sarah Hirschler, and Freshman
Amiya Johnson (Fairport, NY) and
Mary Hamer (Belfast, NY) as her starting five. The Lazers outscored the Cougars 36-7 in the 1st quarter and 26-10 in the 2nd putting them ahead 62-17 at the half.
Brianna Weaver was unstoppable going 5-9 from the arc and a total 23 points in the season debut. The Cicero-North Syracuse Guard tied her career high five 3's vs North Country Community College last season. Freshman Guard, Giselle Allen-Cruz was hot from the arc as well going 3-5 and finishing with 16 points and contributing to the team 33.3% from three. Seibt's deep bench contributed 44 points in the win.
The Lazers look to stay hot against some non-region competition this weekend, hosting the annual Winter Classic in the SRC Arena with games vs the No. 9 team in the nation, Community College of Rhode Island and 2021-22 National Champions, No. 10 Owens Community College.
