Syracuse, NY - Women's Soccer moved to a 7-1 overall record this weekend defeating the Jefferson Cannoneers on Wilbur Field. The Lazers are 3-0 in conference play, 6-1 in regional play, and ranked 3rd in Region 3 behind Genesee and Mohawk Valley.
The matchup remained even for the first 43 minutes of gameplay between the two teams.
Brenna Mast killed the silence scoring the Lazers' first unassisted goal off of a Jefferson goal kick, giving the Lazers some cushion to enter the second half.
Onondaga came out fired-up to start the second half and wanting another. Capitalizing on a breakaway from
Lilly Duschen,
Ellysia Germain found net for the Lazers second goal of the game with the assist from Duschen.
Jefferson, with time running down, scored their first goal in the 82nd minute of the contest, but the Lazers kept their composure and solidified the 2-1 victory on defense.
Mikalah Bliss had 11 saves in goal.
The women have the week off until Saturday, September 30th when they'll travel to Niagara Community College for another regional matchup at 3pm.
