Syracuse, NY - The Lazers hosted the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers on Tuesday to add on 2 wins and their second sweep this week. The team now moves to an overall record of 5-5.
The Lazers came out dominant and ready for Game 1. With back-to-back triples from
Jack Scanlon and
Kyle Wood, the Lazers put up 2 runs right off the bat. Proceeding to score in every inning, they held Jefferson to 2 runs and mercy ruled in 5 innings for a final score of 13-2.
Kyle Wood,
Mike Benedetto, and
Matt Carner each led the Lazers with 3 RBIs. Wood recorded 3 base hits.
Jack Knapp took the win on the mound with 7 strikeouts.
Eric Korzeniewski started on the bump in game 2. After giving up 1 run in the 1st and 2nd inning, Korzeniewski held Jefferson scoreless in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings and recorded 9 strikeouts. The Lazers came out hot again scoring 6 runs in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd. Jack Scanlon reached first base due to a walk in the bottom of the 6th. After stealing two consecutive bases on two consecutive pitches, he scored Onondaga's final run on a sacrifice fly from
Mike Benedetto. Benedetto contributed 2 RBI's in game 2 for a total of 5 on the day. The Lazer's secured the victory with a final score of 9-2.
Onondaga will travel to Genesee Community College for their next contest against the cougars on Thursday, March 30th at 2pm for a doubleheader.
