Syracuse, NY - The No. 3 Lazers hosted the Pool B Region III Semifinal last night against the No. 6 Vikings of Hudson Valley. The two teams had met just six days prior for the final regular season contest that ended in a 0-0 draw. But the postseason fever struck the Lazers as they had a dominant 4-0 win over the Vikings to earn a spot in the Pool B Championship for the first time in program history. 

The tone of the game was set early on with a near goal in the first 30 seconds of the contest saved by the Vikings Keeper. The Lazers continued to dominated offensive possession for the majority of the game with numerous scoring opportunities. Brenna Mast manufactured the first Lazer goal at 29:13 getting up on the board first. The ball remained on the Lazers scoring end of the field for nearly all of the first half, causing a quiet half for Goalie, Mikalah Bliss. But with stand-out performance from the Hudson Valley Keeper, the teams entered the half 1-0.

The Lazers came out in the second half unsatisfied with their lone goal. Ellysia Germain earned some insurance giving the Lazers a two goal lead on an assist from Mast. Continuing to own possession, the Lazers found themselves more and more scoring opportunities that resulted in a 4-0 final score on another goal from Germain and one from leading scorer, Harmony Russell.

This win advances Onondaga to the Pool B Championship against the No. 2 Herkimer Generals to be played this Saturday, October 28th at 1pm hosted by Genesee Community College. The winner will advance to the National Championship Tournament in Gastonia, NC.

Members of the 2023 All-Conference Women's Soccer Team were named this week. Onondaga earned several spots including Harmony Russell, who was titled MSAC Co-Player of the Year.
