Syracuse, NY- Tuesday, the Lazers faced off against the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers in a doubleheader for the second time this season. After giving up one run in the top of the 1
st, the Lazers held the Cannoneers to four scoreless innings and tallied 14 runs in three innings to win game one, 16-1. In game two, the Lazers rallied for eight runs in the bottom of the 2
nd inning and four runs in the bottom of the 6
th inning to win 13-3.
In game one, the Lazers were on fire offensively, scoring in every inning. The Lazers were led by freshman left fielder
Mike Benedetto and sophomore third baseman
Garrett Stuckey. Benedetto finished game one with three hits, five RBIs, and one run in four plate appearances. Stuckey added a hit, a walk, three RBIs, and two runs in two plate appearances. The Lazers were led defensively by freshman pitcher
Ryan Paige. Paige had a dominant showing on the mound pitching all five innings. In those five innings, Paige faced 20 batters, gave up one run, and had six strikeouts to earn his second win of the season.
The Lazers carried over their hot streak from the first game in game two. Sophomore left fielder
Jeremy Rosado had two runs, three hits, three RBIs, and a stolen base in three at-bats. Sophomore right fielder
Seth Zurbruegg added three hits, three RBIs, and a run in five at-bats. Sophomore pitcher
Jack Knapp earned his first win of the season on the mound with three strikeouts in four innings.
The Lazers look to extend their win streak to ten games when they host Cazenovia College Wildcats in a single nine-inning game Thursday, March 24
th, at the Onondaga Community College Baseball Complex. The matchup is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
