Syracuse, NY- Wednesday, the Lazers battled it out against Jefferson Community College Cannoneers in a doubleheader matchup. The Lazers were able to cruise to a game one victory, 15-4, with an offensively strong 2
nd inning scoring 12 runs. In game two, the Lazers were able to string together a few hits and draw a couple of walks to take a late lead in the bottom of the 6
th inning. The Lazers held onto their 6-5 lead to end the night 2-0 and stretched their regular season record to 3-0.
In game one, the Lazers bats were red hot with a team effort of 15 hits and two walks in 27 at-bats. Offensively, the Lazers were led by sophomore right fielder
Jake Humes and freshman designated hitter
Carlos Fantauzzi. In 3 at-bats, Humes had three hits, five runs-batted-in, and scored twice. Fantauzzi batted in 3 runs and scored once himself as well. Sophomore pitcher
Devin Rooney logged his first win of the season on the mound with two strikeouts and only allowed one run to score.
In game two, the Cannoneers took a 5-2 lead in the top of the 3rd inning. Sophomore pitcher
Seth Zurbruegg entered the game in the top of the 4
th inning. Zurbruegg proceeded to earn his first win of the season on the mound by pitching four scoreless innings with six strikeouts and only three hits allowed. Offensively, the Lazers were led by freshman shortstop
John "Jack" Scanlon with two hits, two runs-batted-in, and one run.
The Lazers will battle it out against Mohawk Valley Community College Thursday, March 17
th, in a doubleheader matchup with the first game starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Onondaga Community College Baseball Complex.
