Syracuse, NY - The Lazers had back-to-back games this weekend against Jefferson Community College Cannoneers and Fulton-Montgomery Community College Raiders at the Allyn Hall Gymnasium.
Saturday, the Lazers came out hot, outscoring the Cannoneers 27-7 in the first quarter. The Lazers went into halftime leading 41-19. The second half was a battle with the Cannoneers. But, the Lazers held onto their lead defeating the Cannoneers 73-56 in a Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup. The Lazers were led by freshman guard,
Avianna Baker. Baker had a career high 24 points, shooting 10 for 14. She also added 8 boards, 5 assists, and snagged 3 steals.
Sunday, the Lazers continued to come out hot, outscoring the Raiders 21-7 in the first quarter. The Lazers held onto their first quarter lead going into halftime up, 36-18. The Raiders came out of halftime shooting the lights out. But, it wasn't enough to overcome the lead the Lazers created in the first half. The Lazers came out on top defeating the Raiders 79-68 in a non-conference matchup. Freshman guard,
Macey Deordio, led the Lazers with 28 points, shooting a season high 6 for 12 from the three-point line. She also added 6 boards and 6 assists.
The Lazers look to continue their 16-game win streak as the travel to Dryden this Wednesday, February 9
th at 5:00 pm to battle it out against Tompkins Cortland Community College.
