Box Score For the fourth time this season and the second time in four days, the Onondaga Community College women's basketball team squared off against their long-time Mid State Athletic Conference rival Tompkins Cortland Community College, but this time the winner of the game went on to play another day while the loser's season came to an end.
 
On Friday of the previous week in the MSAC tournament semi-final, TC3 defeated Onondaga by 11 points (57-46), and initially this NJCAA Region 3 regional playoff game appeared to be headed toward a similar outcome as the higher seed (#4 and home team) Lazers found themselves down 21-12 at the end of the first period of play – a deficit that was extended to 14 points early in the second quarter.  From that point on the Lazers outscored 60-30 and came away with a hard fought 77-61 victory.  With the win Onondaga improves to 24-6 for the season while TC3 falls to 16-10.
 
Shannon Foehl (Skaneateles) came off the bench to lead the Lazer offensive surge with 19 points that included three 3-pointers.  Samantha Britton (Kenmore West – Buffalo) had 14 points and 12 rebounds while frontcourt mate Sydni Eure (East Syracuse – Minoa) also had a double double with 13 points and 15 rebounds.  Payton Noeller (Cato – Meridian) chipped in with 11 points – 8 of which came in the deciding second half.
 
The Lazers now advance to the Region 3 semi-finals where they will take on #1 seed Finger Lakes Community College in a 1pm tipoff on Saturday, March 3 in Canandaigua.  The winner of this match-up will advance to the regional final on Sunday with an opportunity to go to the national tournament that will be held in Rockford, Illinois during the second week of March.
