Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Swept by Monroe to Close out Regular Season, 9-5, 8-7

Syracuse, N.Y. – Errors proved to be costly as the Monroe Community College softball team took both ends the doubleheader against Onondaga Community College Saturday afternoon at the Softball Complex, 9-5, 8-7. The Lazers finish the regular season with a record of 27-15 and head into the NJCAA Region III tournament next week.

Game One: Monroe CC 9, Onondaga 5

The Tribunes plated eight runs over the first three frames to take game one. Samantha Moon went 2-3 with three RBIs to lead Onondaga's offense, while Victoria Duffy collected two hits. Sierra Keesler, Morgan Neadom, Emily Clapper and Casey Gray each booked a hit for the Lazers eight hit offense.

Duffy suffered the loss going all seven innings giving up nine runs (three earned) on 14 hits.  

Game Two: Monroe 8, Onondaga 7

Monroe scored two runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to walk off on the Lazers 8-7. Clapper went 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs, while Gray went 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs in game two. Lea Newman, Neadom, Moon, Morgan Nichols and Duffy each booked a hit for Onondaga.

Nichols took the loss giving up eight runs (four earned) on eight hits over six and one-third innings pitched. Nicholes added three strikeouts.

Onondaga heads into regional play next week with a 27-15 record.
