Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman outfielder Emily Clapper went a perfect 3-3 from the dish, including a triple, with two RBIs and a run scored to lead the No. 2 Onondaga Community College softball team to a 10-3 victory over No. 7 Jefferson Community College Tuesday afternoon at the Softball Complex in the first round of the Region III softball tournament.

After quickly trailing 3-0 after the first inning, the Lazers would score eight runs over the next two innings to take an 8-3 lead after three innings of play. Sophmore righty Morgan Nichols went the distance tossing seven innings and allowing three runs (one earned) in a nine hit, eight strikeout performance for the Lazers. Nichols also added three hits, an RBI and a run scored for her complete performance.

Lea Newman, Morgan Neadom, Casey Gray and Caitlin Wormuth each booked a hit to round out Onondaga's 10 hit attack. Neadom knocked in two Lazers and scored twice, while Newman touched home plate twice as well.

With the win, the Lazers improve to 28-15 good enough for a school record for most wins in a season with 28.

Onondaga returns to the diamond on Friday for the Region III Final Four with a three game series against No. 3 Corning Community College with a time TBD. A doubleheader will be played Friday with a one game rubber match set for Saturday if necessary. All games will be played on the campus of Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York.
