Syracuse, N.Y. – The Onondaga Community College baseball team scored 29 runs and allowed just four hits in its doubleheader sweep of Broome Community College Wednesday afternoon at the Baseball Complex. The Lazers won game one 16-3 and took the nightcap 13-1 to complete the season sweep of the Hornets. Onondaga swept Broome 8-3, 11-0 back on April 10 at the Baseball Complex. Â
Game One: Onondaga 16, Broome CC 3 (6 innings)
In game one, nine different Lazers made their way into the book with hits. Terry Daniels led the team with two hits (one double), while Adrian Adams (double), Jamie Cuff, Anthony Sinicropi, Paul Fitzgibbons (double), Nate Budge (double), Justin Germain (double), Autie Ascenzi and Justin Mathers each collected one hit each.
Adams and Germain collected two RBI's apiece, while Larca and Budge each scored three times for the offense.
Alexander Way improved to 3-2 on the season going four innings giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits while striking out two Hornets. Colin Smith and Paul Musso each pitched clean innings out of the bullpen for Onondaga. Â
Game Two: Onondaga 13, Broome CC 1 (6 innings)
In the nightcap, Germain picked up his first win of the season on the mound tossing a complete game (six innings). Germain allowed one run (unearned) on just one hit while striking out seven batters and lost his no-hit bid in the sixth inning.
Mathers led the way for the Lazers offense collecting three hits (one double), four RBI's and scored three times. Josh Cosgrove and Austin Hall each booked two hits apiece, while John Larca and Chad Raychel added knocks of their own. Raychel added three RBI's and both Hall and Cosgrove crossed the plate three times.
The Lazers (26-17) head to Erie Community College on Saturday for a doubleheader slated for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
