Baseball Falls Twice to Monroe Community College, 3-1, 11-1

Rochester, N.Y. – The Onondaga Community College baseball team dropped both ends of its doubleheader with Monroe Community College, 3-1, 11-1, Tuesday afternoon in Rochester, NY.

Game One: Monroe CC 3, Onondaga 1

Onondaga tied the game 1-1 in the sixth inning but allowed two unearned runs in the bottom half of the same frame to fall 3-1 in game one.

Lefty Matt Valin threw five innings allowing one run on two hits and collected four strikeouts for Onondaga's defense. Zach Martz issued two runs (none earned) in one inning of work out of the bullpen.

Sophomore catcher Paul Fitzgibbons lined a double and collected an RBI to lead the offense, while Justin Germain, Austin Hall and Justin Mathers each registered one hit for Onondaga's four hit offense.

Game Two: Monroe CC 11, Onondaga 1 (5 innings)

Monroe plated seven runs in the third inning en route to a 11-1 victory over the Lazers in game two.

Chad Raychel collected two of Onondaga's three hits in game two and Terry Daniels lined a double and scored the lone run for the offense.

Nick Claver suffered the loss going three innings giving up seven earned runs on 10 hits. Lee Condon threw an inning and a third out of the bullpen allowing four runs on five hits.

Onondaga (24-17) looks to get back on track against Broome Community College this afternoon with a doubleheader slated for 2 and 4:30 p.m. In the earlier matchup between the two teams on April 10, Onondaga swept Broome 8-3, 11-0.
