Buffalo, N.Y. – The Onondaga Community College softball team took both ends of the doubleheader, 10-4, 6-2, Saturday afternoon against Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY. The Lazers have won 10 straight and twenty of twenty-two dating back to April 9th.
Game One: Onondaga 10, Erie CC 4
The Lazers used a six run fourth inning to take a 8-4 lead over Erie in game one. Lea Newman and Casey Gray booked four hits each to lead Onondaga's 15 hit attack. Samantha Moon lined two hits while Morgan Neadom, Emily Clapper, Morgan Nichols and Caitlin Wormuth each added a hit. Clapper led the team with four RBI's and Wormuth was close behind with three RBI's of her own.
Nichols earned the win for the Lazers going four and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen not surrendering a run on two hits. Nichols struck out seven Kats on the game.
Game Two: Onondaga 6, Erie CC 2
In the nightcap, the Lazers scored runs in the first four offensive innings to help complete the sweep of Erie Community College. Nichols and Wormuth collected the only hits (two each) for Onondaga in game two. Nichols collected two RBI's and Micaela Madigan scored two times.
Nichols tossed a complete game eight-hitter allowing just two runs (one earned) while striking out six.
Onondaga (25-13) returns to the diamond on Thursday as they travel to Mohawk Valley Community College for a doubleheader set for 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.Â
