Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Tompkins Cortland Community College, 2-3, 4-0.

Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman lefty Sean Connors pitched six innings of shutout baseball to help lead the Onondaga Community College baseball team to a 4-0 win over Tompkins Cortland Community College in game two. The Lazers fell in game one 3-2.

Game One: Tompkins CCC 3, Onondaga 2

With runners on first and second and down 3-1 in the seventh inning, Nate Budge lifted a two-out double to right center to score the potential game-tying run from first. The ball bounced over the fence for a ground rule double sending the tying run, Myles Carter, back to third base.  Payetn Boice generated an infield pop-up for the final out.

The Lazers collected just six hits in game one (three doubles). John Larca, Austin Hall, Paul Fitzgibbons, Budge, Justin Germain and Chad Raychel each collected one hit apiece to lead the offense.

Aaron Beck (6-2) suffered his second straight loss on the season giving up two runs in six innings of work. Beck struck out six batters. Zach Martz pitched an inning of relief surrendering an unearned run on no hits.

Game Two: Onondaga 4, Tompkins CCC 0

A pair of two-run innings helped the Lazers salvage the split in game two. Larca, Hall and Raychel each collected two hits, while Germain booked a single.

Connors (3-0) picked up his third win of the season pitching six innings of three-hit baseball. Connors struck out six Panthers. Kyle Naugle pitched the seventh inning to close the door for the win.

Onondaga (20-13) returns to the diamond on Tuesday as they host Corning Community College for a doubleheader slated for 4 and 6:30 p.m.
