Onondaga Sweeps Tompkins Cortland Community College, 11-3, 12-4

Dryden, N.Y. – The Onondaga Community College softball team took both ends of the doubleheader, 11-3, 12-4, Saturday afternoon against Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden, NY. The Lazers have won four straight and fourteen of their last sixteen games dating back to April 9th.

Game One: Onondaga 11, Tompkins CCC 3

In game one, Emily Clapper booked four hits including a double, two RBI's and two runs scored to lead the Lazers twelve hit attack. Sierra Keesler launched her first homerun of the season, while Casey Gray included two knocks. Morgan Neadom, Chelcee Staats, Morgan Nichols, Kyra Hunsinger and Lea Newman each found their way on the scorer's sheet with a hit each.

Nichols earned the win for the Lazers going seven innings giving up three runs on seven hits. Nichols struck out six Panthers on the game.

Game Two: Onondaga 12, Tompkins CCC 4 (5 Innings)

In the nightcap, the Lazers scored six runs in the fourth inning to help complete the sweep of Tompkins Cortland Community College. Samantha Moon drove in three runs on two hits, both doubles, while Clapper, Neadom, Staats and Gray each added a multi-hit game. Caitlin Wormuth and Hunsinger completed the Lazers twelve hit attack with one hit each. Neadom scored four times.

Victoria Duffy tossed three innings giving up four runs (one earned) on five hits. Staats pitched two innings in relief issuing just one hit and striking out three.

Onondaga (19-13) returns to the diamond today as they play host to Finger Lakes Community College for a doubleheader set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
