Dryden, N.Y. – Sophomore righty Alexander Way struck out seven Panthers in six innings to help lead the Lazers to an 11-2 victory in game one over Tompkins Cortland Community College Saturday afternoon in Dryden, NY. The Lazers fell 11-10 in game two as the Panthers walked-off in the seventh inning.
Game One: Onondaga 11, Tompkins CCC 2
In game one, Autie Ascenzi booked three hits and scored three times to lead the offense, while Terry Daniels recorded three hits of his own with two runs scored. Justin Germain added three RBI's on one hit, while Brandon Breen, Paul Fitzgibbons and Austin Hall completed Onondaga's 10 hit attack with a hit each.
Way won his second game of the season giving up two runs on seven hits in six innings of work. Colin Smith threw an inning of scoreless baseball out of the bullpen.
Game Two: Tompkins 11, Onondaga 10
In the nightcap that saw five lead changes, Tompkins Cortland Community College's Zach Schulte hit a two-out blooper to center to score Ty Christian from third for the 11-10 walk-off win.
Hall recorded a game-high four hits with three RBI's. Justin Mathers, Fitzgibbons and Breen each booked two hits each, while Daniels, Mikey Espinal and Chad Raychel completed the Lazers 13 hits with one knock apiece.
Zach Martz suffered the tough-luck-loss on the mound. Danny Valerio, Brandon Michaud, Smith and Paul Musso would each see time on the rubber.
The Lazers (19-12) complete the four game series with Tompkins Cortland Community College today at the Baseball Complex with a doubleheader slated for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
