Softball Sweeps Weekend, Wins Tenth Straight

The Onondaga Community College softball pitching staff surrendered just five runs in 28 innings to win all four games over the weekend. On Saturday, the Lazers defeated Columbia-Greene Community College, 4-2, 2-1, and continued to sweep SUNY-Delhi, 3-1, 4-1, Sunday afternoon for their tenth straight win.

Game One (4/16): Onondaga 4, Columbia-Greene CC 2

Samantha Moon and Morgan Nichols registered RBI's in the top half of the seventh inning of game one as Onondaga scored four times in the seventh inning for the come-from-behind victory. Casey Gray, Emily Clapper and Morgan Neadom each collected multiple hits, while Moon, Nichols and Victoria Duffy added a hit each for the offense.

Nichols tossed a complete game giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks, while striking out five.

Game Two (4/16): Onondaga 2, Columbia-Greene CC 1

In the nightcap on Saturday, Onondaga walked-off to win game two 2-1. Kyra Hunsinger and Moon would lead the Lazer's offense with two hits each, while Clapper, Neadom, Gray and Lea Newman recorded a hit each.

Duffy threw five innings of five hit ball giving up one run (unearned) with two walks and three strikeouts. Nichols came out of the bullpen for the final two innings surrendering three hits and striking out one.

Game One (4/17): Onondaga 3, SUNY-Delhi 1

In game one on Sunday, Nichols drove in two of the three Lazers runs and tossed a complete game three-hitter giving up a run (unearned) while striking out seven Broncos.

Neadom collected a team-high two hits, while Jordan Doane, Clapper, Moon and Nichols booked a hit each.

Game Two (4/17): Onondaga 4, SUNY-Delhi 1

In the nightcap on Sunday, the Lazers would score four runs on twelve hits to complete the weekend sweep and win their tenth in a row. Moon recorded three hits, while Nichols and Gray added two of their own. Hunsinger, Duffy, Clapper, Chelcee Staats and Doane rounded out Onondaga's twelve hit attack with one hit apiece.

Staats went three innings giving up one run on three hits. Nichols pitched the final four innings allowing just one hit to earn the save.

The Lazers (15-11) return to the Softball Complex on Tuesday as they play host to Herkimer College for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
